The leading causes of death for Australian males (in order from first to last) from the Australian Bureau of Statistics:

  • ischaemic heart disease (also known as coronary heart disease)

  • trachea and lung cancer

  • dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease

  • cerebrovascular diseases, including stroke

  • chronic lower respiratory diseases

  • prostate cancer

  • colon and rectum cancer

  • diabetes

  • blood and lymph cancer, including leukaemia

  • suicide
